West Valley CERT

The fall 2010 CERT Training Course will begin on Thursday September 9, 2010. The course will be held at the LDS meeting house at 3372 South Merry Lane. Please check back here or on our Facebook page in case of any changes to the schedule or location. here.

• Sept 16 - Fire Suppression
• Sept 23 - Light Search and Rescue
• Sept 30 - Disaster Medical Part 1
• Oct 7 - Disaster Medical Part 2
• Oct 14 - Disaster Psychology
• Oct 21 - Team Organization
• Oct 23 - Disaster Simulation @ TBD

All classes start at 7:00 PM SHARP! The cost for the course is $40 per person to cover all of the supplies you will use during the course. Due to the Memorial Day holiday, we have decided to delay the last class by one week. There will be no class May 27. The Team Organization class will be held Thursday June 3. The disaster drill will be Saturday June 5 as previously announced. Have a fun and safe holiday weekend.

The Spring 2010 Disaster Simulation (Drill) is this Saturday, June 5. The drill will be at 3781 South 6000 West it starts at 8:00 AM SHARP!! See you there! Remember, all CERT members are encouraged to attend.

The Winter 2010 Disaster Simulation has been moved to 3781 South 6000 West. This is a private residence. Please park on 6000 West and walk to the drill.

The Spring 2010 CERT Course has been moved up. It will begin on Thursday April 15. The first class, Disaster Preparation, will be held at the LDS Meeting House at 3665 South 6000 West. There are a couple of schedule conflicts with this building during the course, so please check here or on our Facebook page for the address of each class. More details coming soon! Don't forget to pre-register.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Haiti and all those affected by the earthquake last week. The disaster brings into focus the painful reality of our own fragile situation. We've heard for years "it's not a question of if, it's a question of when a major quake will occur on the Wasatch Front." The other painful reality that the situation in Haiti brings into focus is the absolute need for us to be self reliant following a disaster. The rule used to be "72 hours".
